Recommended Activity: State Fairs – A state fair is an annual competitive and recreational gathering of a U.S. State’s population, usually held in late summer or early fall. State fairs began for the purpose of promoting state agriculture through competitive exhibits of livestock and farm products. They now also include carnival amusement rides and games, automobile racing, and entertainment like musical concerts. Several states hold their state fairs during the month of August, including West Virginia, New York, Minnesota, and Iowa. Get to know your state even better by seeing one for yourself!
