Spirit colleagues Gloria and Rachel traveled to Duluth and Grand Marais in July and visited twelve of Spirit’s partner Host Employers and got to meet about forty participants!
It was great to see the vibrant, fun city of Duluth and all that it has to offer! Duluth and its supportive Host Employers provide a great location for BridgeUSA programs, with many cultural activity options and beautiful views of Lake Superior available. Participants this season have been taking advantage of Fourth of July celebrations, free outdoor Duluth concerts, and other events throughout the summer, and activities such as bowling and seeing movies in theaters.
Many Spirit participants met Spirit for free ice cream in Duluth and got to meet participants from their own country and other countries who are working at other Host Employers!
Rachel and Gloria then went to Grand Marais, a beautiful and serene community full of Minnesotan culture. Participants raved about the kind, supportive local community and relaxing atmosphere of living and working there. Not only are there stunning views of Lake Superior and local state parks, but there are also small art galleries and interesting local shops. Visitors can explore the Superior National Forest, walk on scenic trails, or relax by the harbor and enjoy fresh local food.
Minnesota is a warm, welcoming state, full of varied cultural activities and scenic landscapes!
