Spirit organized a free cultural activity for Spirit participants working in the Outer Banks area. Participants were invited to enjoy a collegiate baseball game with their Spirit representative. Participants and employers met their Spirit staff member at the entrance of the baseball game.
This was the first baseball game any of the students had ever attended and they were very excited. Prior to the game beginning, the group discussed the basic rules of baseball. The group mingled with the other baseball fans in the stands and enjoyed trying to follow along with the game. Some students commented that their favorite part of the game was conversing with an American couple whose son was the bat boy. The participants also enjoyed eating Cracker Jacks, an American favorite at baseball games!
The event worked well to bring together students from different employers and locations in the Outer Banks area. Attending participants were from Thailand, Turkey, Spain, Mongolia, Romania and Czech Republic along with their American employers.
