Kailei had a great time visiting with hospitality trainees Yusuke and Yoshi, and she enjoyed hearing about their experience in the U.S. so far. It was a great opportunity to see the participants’ training site and participate in cultural activities together.
Host Company supervisors, Kailei, and the participants, were able to attend a Luau together at the Royal Hawaiian. The Luau was a great cultural experience that showcased the history of the Hawaiian Royal Family and the city of Waikiki.
The luau introduced participants to Hawaiian music, dance, and local delicacies. The luau included stations that demonstrated traditional activities like making cloth from pounded bark, tending fishing tools, and preparing “poi” using local taro roots.
After everyone had dinner, there were exciting performances of traditional hula dances and songs that show how the Hawaiian culture has changed through time.
It was a truly unforgettable experience that allowed participants to experience both U.S. culture and the culture of their local community in Hawaii!
