Spirit representative Anna Marie visited Duluth, MN this past summer to meet with our Host Employers and participants. Anna Marie was able to visit six different Host Employers and met around forty participants during her trip. These participants were from all over the world – Turkey, Jamaica, Mongolia, Thailand, and more!
Anna Marie was able to see participants on-the-job as breakfast attendants and front desk agents at hotels, as well as line cooks and dishwashers at local restaurants. Participants were very happy with their placement in Duluth – a tightknit community right on Lake Superior with lots of activities for them to engage in. Most participants said they loved to ride their bicycles along the lake and go to the beach.
Along with meeting so many participants, Anna Marie was able to have meetings with the Host Employer contacts who are coordinating the participants’ programs on the ground. All six Host Employers were elated with their J-1 exchange visitors and loved having them all summer. Without the participants, their businesses would not be able to run as smoothly or keep up with the high business need in the summer. These are valuable partnerships to Spirit.
